ミャゴレグノについて

唯一無二の作品

イメージやストーリーをもとにデザインを起こし、それをデザインを崩さず、自然な形で組み合うように細かなパーツへと分解し、図面にします。 図面を元に糸鋸盤で一枚の板から切り出します。 切り出されたピースは、筆を使って一つひとつ彩色します。 そうして完成したパーツは、持ち上げても崩れない構造となっており、細部まで計算された色彩とバランスで成り立っています。 すべての工程を手作業で行っているため、一つひとつの作品にはわずかな個体差があり、それぞれが唯一無二の存在となっています。 さらに、ピースをわずかにずらすことで陰影が生まれ、光を当てることで壁に幻想的な影が映し出されるなど、見る角度や飾り方によって多様な表情を楽しむことができます。

糸鋸動画

Each piece begins with an idea or story, which is developed into a design. The design is then carefully broken down into small components in a way that preserves its form, allowing them to fit together naturally, and is translated into detailed plans. Based on these plans, the pieces are cut from a single board using a scroll saw. Each cut piece is then individually hand-painted with a brush, adding color and depth. The completed components are assembled into a structure that remains intact even when lifted, with every detail carefully balanced in both color and form. As all processes are carried out by hand, each work has subtle variations, making every piece truly one of a kind. By slightly shifting the individual pieces, shadows emerge, and when illuminated, they cast fantastical silhouettes on the wall—revealing different expressions depending on the viewing angle and display.

作品の中にあるストーリー

デザインを起こす時、作品のイメージやコンセプトが頭に浮かび、そこから制作プロセスが始まります。 時に制作過程でストーリーが浮かび、頭の中で製作中の作品が動き出すことがあります。 ストーリーが膨らむとそのストーリーに寄せて作品を再構築したり、変更を加えたりすることもあります。 私たちにとって、創作とは単に形を創り出すことだけではなく、その中に宿る物語を発見する楽しみでもあります。 個展ではそのストーリーも作品と共に展示します。また、その世界をさらに表現するために、映像作品も制作しています。

When beginning a design, the image and concept of the work come to mind, and from there the creation process begins. At times, a story emerges during the making itself, and the piece seems to come alive, moving within our imagination. As the story unfolds and expands, we may reconstruct or alter the work, bringing it closer to that evolving narrative. For us, creation is not only about forming a physical object, but also about the joy of discovering the story that resides within it. In our solo exhibitions, these stories are presented alongside the artworks. We also create films to further express their world.

ミャゴレグノという名前

「miagolegno（ミャゴレグノ）」は、イタリア語で「（猫が）鳴く」を意味する miagolare と、「木」を意味する legno を組み合わせた造語です。 イタリア語でも日本語でもないこの名前には、異国的な色彩感と、日本らしい繊細なものづくりという、作品の特徴を重ねています。 猫をモチーフにした作品が多かったため、猫の鳴き声が聞こえてくるかのような、生き生きとした表現を目指して名付けられました。

“miagolegno” is a coined word combining the Italian miagolare, meaning “to meow,” and legno, meaning “wood.” Though it belongs to neither Italian nor Japanese, the name reflects the distinctive character of the work—blending a sense of foreign, vibrant color with the delicate craftsmanship often associated with Japan. As many of the works are inspired by cats, the name was chosen to evoke a lively expression, as if one could almost hear a cat’s meow. If you look closely, you may find two cats hidden within the logo—can you spot them?
